Why Family OS

Everything in one place. All of it yours.

Stop juggling a dozen apps, logins, and clouds. Family OS brings every device and every part of family life into one consistent hub — and keeps all of it private by design.

Local-first & private

Runs entirely on your own machine. No vendor cloud, no telemetry, no account. Your family's data lives in a folder you control.

Every system, one screen

75 modules across 9 systems — security, climate, lights, media, grounds, family life — in one coherent command center.

Works with your gear

A device-adapter layer drops in Home Assistant, Hue, Sonos, ecobee, Ring and more — swap a backend in one place, the UI never changes.

Built for the family

Per-person PIN access, shared calendar, chores & allowance, routines, medications, and a bulletin board — everyone gets their slice.

The whole platform

Explore every module.

Seventy-five modules, all shipping today. Search, or filter by system — each one is a full feature with its own dashboard, controls, and history.

Flagship systems

Built deep, not just wide.

Each system is a real, finished product in its own right. Here are a few of the marquee ones.

Security & Surveillance

See everything. Miss nothing.

Live Ring cameras, full-screen grids, perimeter sensors, and gate control — a complete security operations center for your property, all on your own network.

  • Live camera grids — configurable wall layouts, per-cell assignment, click any tile for a full-screen WebRTC stream.
  • Recognition — familiar faces and license plates flagged from known-friendly lists.
  • Perimeter & access — buried ground sensors, gates & doors, guest codes, delivery and visitor logs.
  • Alarm & lockdown — arm/disarm, contact & motion sensors, deterrents, one-tap lockdown.

HOUSE
The capstone

One tap. The whole house responds.

House Modes fan a single intent out across every connected system at once. Leaving? Away locks up, arms security, drops the climate, closes the shades, and kills the lights — everywhere, instantly.

Architecture

Self-hosted by design.

Family OS is a single application you run on a mini-PC, NAS, or home server. It owns its own data and talks to your devices directly — no middleman.

01

Run it on your hardware

One install on a machine you own. The hub serves every screen in the house — phones, tablets, wall kiosks — over your local network.

02

Connect your devices

A clean adapter layer maps each system to the gear you already have. Swap a backend in one place; the interface never changes.

03

Your data stays home

State lives in a local data folder — no external database, no SaaS. Per-person PINs gate access; export or back it up whenever you like.

Who it's for

Scales from a flat to a full estate.

Enable only what fits your home. The modules you don't use stay out of the way — and new ones drop in without changing how the hub works.

Apartments & condos

Lights, climate, a couple of cameras, and the whole family side — calendar, chores, shopping, routines — in one tidy hub.

Privacy is the product

The smart home that doesn't phone home.

Most "smart home" platforms route your cameras, schedules, and routines through someone else's servers. Family OS is built the opposite way — yours, on your hardware, end to end.

No cloud, no accounts. Runs on your network; works even when the internet is down.
No telemetry. Nothing is sent anywhere. Your home's data isn't a product.
Per-person access. PIN-gated sessions, rate-limited login, and an activity log for every change.
Open architecture. Standard adapters and exportable data — no lock-in to anyone, including us.

Questions

Good to know.

Does it really run without the cloud?+

Yes. Family OS runs entirely on hardware you own and serves over your local network. There's no vendor cloud and no account — it keeps working even when your internet is down.

What hardware do I need?+

A single mini-PC, NAS, or home server is plenty. You install once, and the hub is available on every screen in the house — phones, tablets, and dedicated wall kiosks.

Do I have to use all 75 modules?+

Not at all. Enable what fits your home — from an apartment's lights, climate, and calendar to a full estate. Modules you don't use simply stay out of the way, and you can turn more on anytime.

What devices does it work with?+

A device-adapter layer connects platforms like Home Assistant, Philips Hue, Sonos, ecobee, and Ring. Built-in simulators let you set everything up and start using the hub before your hardware is fully wired in.

Is my family's data actually private?+

It never leaves your machine. There's no telemetry and nothing is uploaded. Access is gated per person with PINs, and every change is recorded in a local activity log you control.

Can the whole family use it?+

Yes — it's built for households. Each person gets a profile and PIN, and the family side covers shared calendars, chores and allowance, routines, meals, medications, and more.

Can you set it up for me?+

We offer a private walkthrough and white-glove setup tailored to your home and the devices you already own. Request a demo and we'll map it to your setup.
